Description

The Narrow Field Imager (NFI) channel of the Carruthers GeoCoronal Imager (GCI) provides better than 250 km resolution at nadir from the Lagrange point #1 halo orbit of the Carruthers Geocoronal Observatory. The Level 0 data contain all of the images obtained using the NFI channel. Science imaging began on February 16, 2026, and was regularly scheduled after March 3, 2026. The NFI has filter options including open, Lyman Alpha Narrow, Lyman Alpha Extra Narrow, Calcium Fluoride, Strontium Fluoride, and Blocked. Baseline integration times are 30 minutes in NFI. Stellar observations for calibration are obtained when opportunity arrives with near anti-sun position of the stars, and blocked images for detector bias and dark current are obtained several times daily.
