Description

Science Level 1A image data from the Compact Coronagraph-1 (CCOR-1) aboard the GOES-19 spacecraft, produced through the NOAA NCEI retrospective science processing pipeline. The data consist of calibrated white-light coronagraph images of the solar corona generated from Level 0B data. The images are provided in FITS format as 2048 by 1920 pixel intensity arrays expressed in mean solar brightness (MSB), accompanied by pixel quality flag masks. The science processing includes photometric calibration and provides quality information related to vignetting, detector nonlinearity, saturation, and unreliable pixels. The nominal cadence is approximately 15 minutes. These science products are distinct from the operational Level 1A and near-real-time Level 1B products.

Parameter #1
Name
FITS Extension #1 White-Light Coronal Intensity Data Array
Description

CCOR-1 Science Level 1A white-light coronal intensity stored in FITS extension #1 as a 2048 x 1920 pixel compressed 32-bit floating-point image array. The image is expressed in mean solar brightness (MSB) and uses helioprojective solar coordinates with a zenithal polynomial (ZPN) projection. The plate scale is approximately 19.33 arcsec per pixel at the reference point. The CCOR-1 bandpass has a measured full width at half maximum (FWHM) of approximately 470 to 740 nm. The reference time is specified by the DATE-OBS FITS keyword.

FITS Extension #2 Pixel Quality Flag Mask
Description

Pixel quality flag mask associated with the Science Level 1A coronal intensity image in FITS extension #1. The mask is stored in FITS extension #2 as a 2048 x 1920 pixel compressed 8-bit integer array. Quality flags identify viable pixels, low-vignetting regions, pixels below the detector linear range, correctable nonlinear response, saturated pixels, unreliable photometry, and dead pixels or data downlink failures. Flag definitions are provided in the FITS header.
