GOES-19 EXIS/XRS operational Level 2 daily background (bkd1d) product distributed as a single NetCDF-4 file spanning the available observation period. It provides one daily X-ray background irradiance estimate and one daily mean irradiance for each of the XRS-A (0.05–0.4 nm) and XRS-B (0.1–0.8 nm) channels, together with daily mean coverage fractions and quality flags. Background values are derived from one-minute average XRS measurements: hourly means are calculated, the minimum hourly mean is selected within each of three eight-hour blocks, and the background is the lower of the central block minimum and the average of the minima from the first and third blocks. The operational data are distributed separately from the science-quality reprocessed series. Consult the XRS Level 2 ReadMe and User Guide for data interpretation.

Daily background solar X-ray irradiance for XRS-A (0.05-0.4 nm). The background is derived from one-minute average measurements using hourly means in three 8-hour blocks.
Quality flag for bkd1d_xrsa_flux: 0 indicates good data and 1 indicates no value.
Daily background solar X-ray irradiance for XRS-B (0.1-0.8 nm). The background is derived from one-minute average measurements using hourly means in three 8-hour blocks.
Quality flag for bkd1d_xrsb_flux: 0 indicates good data and 1 indicates no value.
Daily average solar X-ray irradiance in the XRS-A band (0.05-0.4 nm).
Fraction of the day contributing to the XRS-A daily average irradiance, from 0 to 1.
Quality flag for avg1d_xrsa_flux: 0 indicates good data, 1 indicates minimum coverage not met, and 2 indicates no data.
Daily average solar X-ray irradiance in the XRS-B band (0.1-0.8 nm).
Fraction of the day contributing to the XRS-B daily average irradiance, from 0 to 1.
Quality flag for avg1d_xrsb_flux: 0 indicates good data, 1 indicates minimum coverage not met, and 2 indicates no data.
