Description

The Carruthers observatory studies Earth’s geocorona, the ultraviolet glow emitted by Earth's exosphere, our planets outermost atmospheric layer. Carruthers operates from a halo orbit about the first Earth-Sun Lagrange point, with narrow and wide field channels to observe geocoronal emissions of atomic hydrogen in order to retrieve altitude profiles of exospheric hydrogen density.
