Description

The Maputo Observatory, historically known as the Campos Rodrigues Observatory, was founded in 1908 in Lourenço Marques (now Maputo), Mozambique. Originally built during the Portuguese overseas empire, it was a key astronomical, meteorological, and seismological station for the region. Today, Maputo is also home to the Observatory of Cultural Policies in Africa (OCPA).
