Data Access
Historical three-day GOES solar X-ray flux plots produced by the NOAA Space Environment Center (SEC), now the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Each plot displays full-disk solar soft X-ray irradiance in two channels, XRS-A and XRS-B, over a three-day interval. Historical operational wavelength-band conventions differ from those used for science-quality reprocessed data.
The plots use measurements from GOES-8 through GOES-15 series X-ray Sensors (XRS), with the spacecraft displayed varying over time. Earlier plots used 5-minute data, while later plots used 1-minute data. These historical plots are distinct from the newer GOES-R series X-ray flux products.
The plots were updated approximately daily and distributed as GIF images. Historical plots are preserved in the NOAA SWPC archive, organized by year in gzip-compressed TAR files. NOAA identifies the archive as covering May 1996 through January 2020.
